                        Sleepy Hollow (1999)

In 1799, New York City police constable Ichabod Crane is dispatched to the upstate Dutch villa of Sleepy Hollow, which has been tormented by a progression of merciless beheadings: an affluent dad and child, Peter and Dirk Van Garrett, and a widow, Emily Winship. Gotten by the isolated town seniors—well off money manager Baltus Van Tassel; town specialist Thomas Lancaster; the Reverend Steenwyck; legal official James Hardenbrook; and officer Samuel Philipse—Ichabod discovers that local people accept the executioner is the undead ghost of a headless Hessian soldier of fortune from the American Revolutionary War who rides a dark horse looking for his missing head.

Ichabod starts his examination, wary of the paranormal story. Boarding at the home of Baltus Van Tassel and his subsequent spouse, Lady Van Tassel, he is taken with Baltus' profound little girl, Katrina. At the point when a fourth casualty, Jonathan Masbath, a worker in the Van Garrett family, is slaughtered, Ichabod takes the casualty's child, Young Masbath, under the care of him. Ichabod and Masbath uncover the casualties on a tip from Philipse, discovering that the widow passed on pregnant; Ichabod observes the Horseman executing Philipse not long after. He, Young Masbath and Katrina, adventure into the Western Woods, where a hag living in a cavern uncovers the area of the Horseman's grave at the "Tree of the Dead." He uncovers the Horseman's grave and finds the skull has been taken, reasoning that it has been taken by somebody who currently controls him and that the tree is his entryway into the living scene.

That evening, the Horseman slaughters the town birthing specialist and her family, just as Katrina's admirer Brom Van Brunt when he endeavors to intercede; Ichabod estimates that the Horseman is assaulting select targets connected by an intrigue. He and Masbath visit Hardenbrook, who uncovers that the main casualty, Peter Van Garrett, had subtly hitched the widow, composing another will that left his domain to her and her unborn youngster. Ichabod concludes that all the people in question (aside from Brom) are either recipients or observers to this new will, and that the Horseman's lord is the individual who might have in any case acquired the domain: Baltus, a Van Garrett relative.

After finding the allegation, Katrina consumes the proof. Hardenbrook ends it all, and Steenwyck gathers a town meeting to ruin Ichabod, however Baltus blasts into the get together at the congregation, reporting that the Horseman has executed his significant other. The Horseman assaults the congregation, however can't enter. In the confusion, the leftover seniors turn on and assault one another: Steenwyck murders Lancaster and Steenwyck is slaughtered by Baltus, and afterward the Horseman spears Baltus through a window, hauling him out of the congregation and gaining his head.

At first presuming that Katrina controls the Horseman, Ichabod finds that the outline she drew underneath his bed and in the congregation during the gathering, which he accepted called the Horseman, is truly one of assurance, and also finds an after death twisted on "Woman Van Tassel's" executed body. Woman Van Tassel, fit as a fiddle, at that point uncovers herself to Katrina: the body was that of the Van Tassell's worker young lady, Sarah. She kidnaps Katrina to a neighborhood windmill and clarifies her actual legacy from a ruined family expelled years prior by Peter Van Garrett when he supported Baltus and Katrina all things considered. She swore retribution against Van Garrett and all who had violated her, promising herself to Satan in the event that he would raise the Horseman to vindicate her, and furthermore to guarantee the Van Garrett and Van Tassel bequests uncontested. Controlling her way into the Van Tassel family, she utilized dread, shakedown, and desire to bring different seniors into her plot. Having dispensed with any remaining beneficiaries and witnesses — and having executed her sister, the hag, for helping Ichabod — she gathers the Horseman to complete Katrina.

Ichabod and Masbath hurry to the windmill as the Horseman shows up. After a departure that demolishes the windmill and the resulting pursue to the Tree of the Dead, Ichabod recovers the Horseman's skull from Lady Van Tassel and returns it to him, breaking the revile, and liberating the Horseman from Lady Van Tassel's control. With his head reestablished, the Horseman saves Katrina and steals Lady Van Tassel, giving her a ridiculous kiss and getting back to Hell with her close behind, satisfying the arrangement. Ichabod re-visitations of New York with Katrina and Young Masbath, without a moment to spare for the new century.
